Behind the Wheel - Social Networking at 50

Social networking sites have taken off in a big way in the past few years. But while many are targeted to the 20+ age group, the 50+ demographic is trying to get in on the fun. AARP is already a trusted name for people over 50. With over 39 million members, the organization offers information on a wide variety of topics - ranging from legislation, consumer and legal issues to the people of this age group.

In addition to the beneficial information the organization already provides, they are now giving their website a facelift. The new site, which officially launched on April 8th, features an added social networking element. The site will be open to anyone who is 50 years of age or over (and they do not have to be an AARP member). The social networking component will include profiles, chat rooms - plus the ability to upload video and audio. The new site will also include a new online version of the Bulletin, which will be updated daily with original content, as well as news of the day updates. Another new enhancement to the site is an area where visitors will be able to play a variety of web-based video games for adults.
